Switching your accounts to East River FCU is now as easy as 1 – 2 – 3! We have a simple online form to help you make a smooth and easy transition to our services.
Step 1: Open your new East River FCU checking account. Once your account is open, you have access to all of our benefits and other accounts, including FREE Online Banking and E-statements, convenient Bill Pay service, high-yield savings accounts, and low-interest loans. Not a member? Click here to learn how to become a member.
Step 2: Close down your old accounts. Be sure to leave your old accounts active long enough to allow outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear. Leave enough money in place to cover these transactions. This process may take several weeks. Once you’re sure that the old accounts are inactive, you can ask your previous financial institution to send you the balance from that account. Then you can destroy your old checks, ATM/Debit cards and deposit slips.
Make the Switch Now! Use our online switch kit to enter all of your previous financial institution information, any automatic payments that are made from that account, and any direct deposits you have going into that account. Once you fill out all of the information, hit the submit button and you’ll have all of the letters as .pdf files to print out, with all of the information you entered, for you to mail to the appropriate parties.
Use the checklist below to make sure you have all of the necessary information to fill out our online form.
__ Previous financial institution information (name, address, account #)
__ Information about anyone who makes automatic withdrawals from your account (company/payee name, address, account #). Common uses of automatic debits include rent/mortgage, utilities, phone, and cable bills.
__ Information about anyone who makes direct deposits into your account (company name, address). Some common uses of direct deposit include payroll, taxes, or expense reimbursements. Members who receive Social Security need to call the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213 or go to www.ssa.gov/deposit/howtosign.htm to change where those funds are deposited.
__ If you use an online bill pay service at your previous financial institution, be sure to cancel each payee and add them to your East River online bill pay service. If you have not yet signed up for Bill Pay, click here for more information or to sign up.
