The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) recently announced the winners of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service award. East River Federal Credit Union was one of five nationally recognized credit unions for their outstanding social responsibility project.
“Congratulations to the 2020 CUNA Award winners who are being recognized for their commitment to their communities, particularly in a time when they’re needed the most,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “We celebrate their efforts in social responsibility, the credit union philosophy and financial education.”
The awards, which are given in several credit union asset size categories, were selected among the winning entries at a league or association level. East River Federal Credit Union is part of the Dakota Credit Union Association which serves 71 credit unions in North and South Dakota.
“To be recognized for our community involvement on a national level is a testament to our amazing team of staff, volunteers and members,” said Erica Clements, Marketing Specialist. “It’s great to have these individuals provide assistance that help to support our community as well as the not-for-profit organizations we partner with. This is part of the cooperative spirit that we embrace as a credit union.”
Other first place winners included: Tarrant County’s CU in Fort Worth, TX; First Commerce CU in Tallahassee, FL; Metro CU in Boston, MA; and Mid-Michigan Chapter of Credit Unions.
East River Federal Credit Union also received honorable mention in the national Desjardins Award for financial literacy.
