East River Federal Credit Union was recently awarded the CU Social Good Award by the Dakota Credit Union Association. One credit union from South Dakota or North Dakota is awarded in each of the three asset categories. East River FCU received the award for the $25 million to $125 million asset category.
The Dakota Credit Union Association, the professional financial trade association of North and South Dakota, cited East River FCU’s involvement with the Meals-on-Wheels program along with the fulfilling of wishes of Angel Tree gift requests in the area and volunteering at an event to benefit area flood victims.
“Credit unions are built on the philosophy of ‘people helping people’,” said Erica Clements, Marketing Specialist. “We want to see the communities that we serve become stronger and thrive which takes people pulling together to help each. Whether it is everyday task or during times of need, we truly believe that it takes each of us to step up and help out.”
In 2019, credit unions in South Dakota and North Dakota logged over $1.2 million in community impact.
