And to any of your family members, friends or co-workers who may be affected by this shutdown and are not currently members of East River FCU – we welcome them to come talk with us to see what options we may provide.
And rest assured, your social security deposits will continue to go through — as well as any of your deposits with East River FCU will remain insured during a government shutdown. The NCUA is an independent agency of the federal government, and its operating budget comes from fees charged to federal credit unions and transfers from the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. So credit union members’ accounts will continue to be insured by the Share Insurance Fund.
